Jennifer is quite possibly one of the most kind, wonderful, and beautiful women I know. Several years ago, she and I attended the same itty-bitty college in Eugene, Oregon. Our alma mater is this fantastic little great books college called Gutenberg College. Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it — most people haven’t. Basically, we got to study Greek, read philosophy, and write ridiculously long papers for four years. It was the happiest time of my life and I made the most wonderful life-long friends there (like Jennifer!).
So you can imagine my whole-hearted excitement when she emailed me a few months ago and asked if I would come to Oregon and shoot her wedding. I am always so honored when a friend invites me behind the scenes of her wedding day, there to capture the tears and the laughs and all the moments surrounding her big day.
Over the years, we’ve shared houses, friends, and some really fun moments together. Like that one time we did an impromptu portrait shoot at a local park. The sun was perfect. And Jennifer was so happy that day. I loved it that she was totally into it because I was totally into it, too. And I had just started doing photography. So I was just thrilled that she was having as much fun as I was.
And then, along the course of the planning stages, Jennifer decided she wanted a separate bridal session before the wedding. So I’ve been in Eugene for this past week, documenting her dress, her jewelry, and getting to know her mother and her new extended family. Once again, I walked away from this week feeling blessed beyond measure. Jennifer and her family are so wonderful, and my life is more rich because of them.
Jennifer, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding. You and Michael are a lovely lovely pair and I know you two are going to have the happiest of lives together.
