Meet Mimi & Chuy. They’re an amazing couple I met while shooting a wedding in Houston, Texas. I was very thrilled that, a few weeks after her sister’s wedding, Mimi emailed me asking if I would like to do a family photography session for her. Justin and I connected really quickly with Rocio & Jesse and so I jumped at the chance to get to know more of their family. So last week we all met at Dallas’ quirky and quaint Bishop Arts District for a family photography session.
But of course, I pulled them aside for a few couples shots as well! I feel that it’s always important to take a handful of couples shots during a family session. It’s a special time and moment to document the love they share. So here are some of my favorites from last week’s shoot in Dallas:
When we all gathered together for the family session, Mimi wanted a mixture of posed shots and some fun documentary shots. I thought this was great. So after getting a handful of shots showing the family and the kids’ interests (Yara loves to read and Aidan likes to play games on his iPhone), we all went and got ice cream. Then, I crossed the street and just captured them interacting as a family.
After ice cream, we went onto a side street and did one last series of posed family portraits. The sun was setting gently in the background and so we got this amazing evening sunset glow in the background.
Thanks, Mimi, Chuy, Yara, & Aidan! We had a lot of fun hanging out with you guys last week.! You all are a great family. 🙂
