With less than a week until my next San Francisco trip,
I realized I have a lot of planning to do! I always start
making a list of coffee shops, bookstores, and cafes
I want to visit while I’m in the City. But I realized I need to put
a little twist on this next trip. So here are a few items I’m
getting ahead of time!

san francisco top 10

1. The problem with traveling in the Spring is that weather
is definitely unpredictable. And the problem with packing
for all that unpredictability is keeping your suitcase light
while being prepared for the weather . . . while somehow looking
put-together! So this time, I’m bringing this Lollipop Bubble
umbrella, inspired by this post on Vogue.

2. Justin is in San Francisco enough that he knows all the
neighborhoods and trains. So when I go, I just follow his
directions. But this time, while he’s working, I want to
be out roaming the city on my own. The fun thing about
this Moleskine is that I can keep track of my favorite
restaurants, cafes, and shops and organize them according
to each district I’m in. Now, each time I come back to San
Francisco, I’ll continue to build my little black book of
great places to frequent.

3. I realized that each time I go to San Francisco I tend
to leave my camera at home. I get into vacation mode and
instead of documenting my time in the city, I read a good
book, walk the streets, and indulge in way too much Blue
Bottle coffee. But this time, I want to have an artistic
goal as well. I want to stretch myself photographically,
so I’m buying this little travel Polaroid camera. It’s
going to be a challenge to take pictures I’m going to love
that I also cannot go home and edit. No cropping. No color
correction. No retouching. No straightening. It’s a fun
challenge! And I hope to get a handful of Polaroid memories
that Justin and I love!

4. Most of my clothing is still in storage  — I have a hard
time getting motivated to unpack! Plus, when you’re used
to living out of a suitcase for four months, you start to
get comfortable with the idea that less is more! But for
this trip, I want a new outfit; I’ll be having lunch dates
with people and so I thought a new outfit should be in the
mix. I like the look of this; It’s perfect for the rainy
spring weather San Francisco will be having! And plus . . .
it’s delightfully neutral, which means it’ll go perfectly
with my new umbrella, which as Vogue says, to be prepared
with a stylish outfit and umbrella is “Not only is it civilized, [but]
if you do it right, it can also be incredibly chic…”
