The most interesting thing to do in Cannon Beach besides eat tons of really good food is to take walks. Along the beach. In Ecola State Park. Along the one main road in town (it’s lined with pubs and restaurants). And after taking walks, the most fun thing to do is go home and build a fire, drink wine, and read a book while it rains and storms outside. It’s basically my ideal Christmas setting. Justin likes the sun and he’s perpetually confused as to why the gray skies make me so happy. I think it must be because it’s the perfect weather for doing what I love: drinking wine and reading by a fire.

Here are some pictures from a few of our walks. This was the first time I paid so much attention to the little houses in town. And this first one, the one with the little red window trim, I wanted to buy it was so perfectly cute.

This house (below) is the one we rented. It has a little studio apartment above the garage and that’s where we stayed. And I loved the third house (below) because of its lighthouse-inspired design. It’s perfect for the Oregon coast because it still has so many lighthouses. And it was so amazing to walk down by Haystack Rock at night and watch the lighthouse shining through the thick fog.
